VNU-HCM is a university system including seven member universities, one institute and one school:

VNU-HCM has constantly developed and asserted itself as an excellent system in human resource training and high quality research as well as a flagship in the reformation of Vietnamese higher education system.
The establishment of the School of Medicine and its operations is based in international standards and aims to improve the healthcare provision to the people of Vietnam through proving the quality of health professional education.
Current focus has been set on undergraduate curriculums, training medical doctors and pharmacists. As of the Doctor of Medicine program, the School of Medicine offers an innovative integrated curriculum based on the experienced Austrian medical curriculum of the Medical University of Vienna. The pharmacy program includes both classroom and experiential learning with a focus on patient-centered outcomes.
As planned, the School of Medicine’s clinical provision at the university hospital and other teaching hospitals will be characterized by the unique linking of basic research and clinical application.
