VNU-HCM SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

 Think. Change. Act.

 Embracing the new. Making transformation. Driving glocalization.
 Since its establishment, we the VNU-HCM School of Medicine are opening our doors, welcoming new ideas and new trends in  health professional education. Long known for innovations in medical education, the school has been in the top medical schol in Vietnam.

Producing excellent health professionals skilled in managing community health problems has been one of Vietnam’s chief healthcare delivery concerns. The need for health professional education reform was recognized by the health professional educators quite some time ago. Since then, the VNU-HCM medical school has increasingly realized that the school curriculum need to be more student-centered, problem-oriented, and community-oriented.

Toward that goal we aim at:

  • Implementing innovative teaching techniques, recruiting and retaining highly motivated staff, and selecting excellent students for admissions;
  • Providing opportunities for our students to develop individual initiative and diversified knowledge and skills through real learning scenarios;
  • Putting our student in the middle of the teaching operation.

Our students do not learn about treating patients or developing new drugs just by sitting in lecture theaters. Instead, authentic medicine is practiced by teams of clinicians, pharmacists, and researchers who work together. Our students are studying in our school’s educational environment as the climate.

It is the climate that influences their behaviour.

Educational climate has been given by the VNU-HCM School of Medicine. Our current task is to ensure that our students have the right clothes available to familiarize with weather changes, namely a g’localized setting of health professional practice.

Sincerely,

Professor Dang Van Phuoc, MD, PhD
Dean, School of Medicine
