The Department of Otorhinolaryngology – School of Medicine – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City was established at the same time as the foundation of School of Medicine – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. After more than 10 years of establishment and development, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology has achieved certain achievements.

Since its establishment, along with the mission of the School of Medicine – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City to “Train highly skilled and qualified health workers to meet the healthcare needs of our people; conduct studies, apply advanced scientific achievements; connect the system of the Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City and foster international collaboration”, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology has not only carried out the mission of teaching and conducting clinical research, but has also participated in the patient care, diagnosis and treatment for disorders of the ear, nose, and throat at tertiary affiliated hospitals of the School of Medicine. We aim to offer a clinical programme of excellence for trainees and medical students at the leading hospitals in Vietnam.

+ Currently, the Department has trained for masters and specialists in Otorhinolaryngology with the aim of training a workforce of highly qualified and skilled ENT doctors with medical ethics. Trainees are supposed to be able to apply innovative research achievements for the diagnosis and treatment of the ear, nose, and throat disorders.

+ We organize short-term orientation courses in Otorhinolaryngology which offer clinical programs at tertiary affiliated ENT hospitals such as Ho Chi Minh City Ear Nose Throat Hospital, Thong Nhat Hospital, and Gia Dinh People’s Hospital in 6 months.

RESEARCH, CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS

Organize and participate in the state-level, ministerial-level, city-level, and university-level research projects with the outcomes of high-quality papers published in reputed national and international medical journals.

Advise not only students of the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM but also students of other medical Schools to conduct theses of general doctors, ENT masters, ENT residents, second degree ENT specialists, and PhD. in the filed of Otorhinolaryngology.

The Department regularly organizes direct and online conferences in Otorhinolaryngology to update new knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases.

The Department has published the “Orientation lectures in Otorhinolaryngology” textbook as the learning documents for undergraduate and graduate students. In the future, our department will publish a number of textbooks, documents and compile multiple-choice question banks to further meet the learning and research needs of students.

Certificate of accreditation from the President of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City for outstanding achievements in the prevention of Covid-19.

Actively conduct studies and constantly update innovative knowledge to meet the increasing learning needs of students.

Further offer postgraduate programs such as Ph.D. and second degree ENT specialists.
