Hundreds of students attended the School of Medicine Career Day 2023

On the morning of May 27, 2023, VNU-HCM School of Medicine held a career orientation events in 2023 with the theme “Connecting the Future” at YA1 Administrative Building, VNU-HCM urban area, Dong Hoa Ward, Di An City, Binh Duong Province. Despite taking place in unfavorable weather conditions, the event still attracted hundreds of employers, exhibitors and approximately 300 students.
Those businesses and corporations participating in this event are mostly from the pharmaceutical industry with prestigious names such as: Gigamed, Medimap, Lavitec, Pharmacity, Long Chau, Boston Pharma, Servier Vietnam, etc.
Prof. Dang Van Phuoc – Dean of the School of Medicine said that students of the School of Medicine have accessed to the educational innovation programme, so they have a solid professional knowledge base. It is very necessary to create favourable conditions for the VNU-HCM SoM students, especially for senior and sophomore year students, to connect with employers while they are still in college. “We are also very happy and honored to receive so many attentions and connections from many businesses, thereby introducing job and internship opportunities to students at this event” – Professor Dang Van Phuoc emphasised.
Within the framework of this programme, two workshops “Be ready for your job opportunities” were held with the speaker Ms. Nguyen Hoang Anh – Abbott Vietnam Recruitment Manager; which is in parallel with “Transition from Study to Work” – with Representative of Gigamed Vietnam Pharmaceutical Company as the speaker. In addition, there were seminars with many topics: Quality control of drugs by Dr. Nguyen Thanh Ha – HCMC Drug Testing Institute presented; Drug production by Master of Science – Phamarcist Phan Trong Dat – Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company Boston Vietnam Company; Hospital pharmacy shared by Pharmacist Tran Thu Hien – Deputy Head of Pharmacy Department, Thu Duc City Hospital; The exchange and introduction of Servier Vietnam, Medimap, Lavitec company on October 20 and the ultimate talk of the program “Career opportunities for fresh graduated pharmacists” – Le Minh Tri (Professor – Doctor – Pharmacist) and other speakers. All of this useful information has helped students have a practical view of the development opportunities of the pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam, thereby having clear orientations for career choices.
At the event, the guest speakers also delivered enthusiastic insights for students’ questions and concerns about the working environment and career development opportunities at each company. From their personal experiences, the speakers also inspired students to appreciate their profession, conduct scientific research, and even encourage entrepreneurial spirits.
Besides, there is a contest “Potential candidates” – a great opportunity for you to show your potential in front of the leading teachers, teachers and employers in the field of health.
It can be said that, with the participation and direct consultation of many medical units, the event has brought about a quality exchange environment, giving students new perspectives, orientations and experiences so that those students could make the right decision for their career paths. At the same time, this is also a network to help businesses access and directly recruit high-quality medical human resources from the school.
