Students and the Dean of the School of Medicine VNU-HCM engaged in a wide range of conversations

This morning, on 23rd May, 2023, the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM organised the “Student Dialogue Conference for the academic year 2022-2023” at the Headquarter Building of VNU-HCM. The conference was attended by Prof. PhD. MD. Dang Van Phuoc  – Dean of the School of Medicine, the School’s Heads of Departments, leaders of functional departments, representatives of department heads and subject coordinators, and over 1300 students of the School of Medicine who participated both in person and online. Among the invited guests was Mr. Truong Van  An, Deputy Secretary of the Student Affairs Committee of VNU-HCM.

The event served as a platform for direct information exchange between the school board and the students, aiming to promptly address any difficulties or issues students may encounter during their studies. It also aimed to identify strengths and address existing challenges in teaching and learning, gradually improving the quality of education to best meet the aspirations and legitimate rights of the students in terms of training quality and learning environment at the School of Medicine,VNU-HCM.

In his speech at the conference, Prof. PhD. MD.  Dang Van Phuoc – Dean of the School of Medicine emphasised the importance of organising direct dialogue between the students and the school board. This was a great opportunity for the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM to directly engage with and listen to the concerns and aspirations of the students. Prof. PhD. MD. Dang Van Phuoc encouraged students to freely raise questions and express their concerns, ensuring that the conference could proceed smoothly. He also expressed the hope that the students’ opinions would contribute to the development and strengthening of the School of Medicine, towards its future transformation into a University of Health Sciences.

During the conference, there were many questions and concerns raised by students from various departments and classes, focusing on topics such as the training management system, curriculum, facilities, tuition fees, scholarships, course books, and study materials. The School’s Heads of Departments, as well as the leaders of functional departments and subject coordinators, listened, understood, shared the difficulties, and provided detailed answers and proposed optimal solutions to better serve the students’ learning at the School of Medicine.


Concluding the dialogue session, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dang Van Phuoc expressed his sincere appreciation for the frank contributions of the students. Based on the feedback received, the school board will make adjustments to further enhance the quality of management, teaching, and service at the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM.
