221 Candidates Entered of Specialist Level I (Batch 2) and Residency Programme Entrance Examinations in 2023

On the afternoon of 11th November, 2023, at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology’s examination site witnessed the commencement of the 2023 entrance examination for the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM’s Specialist Level I (Batch 2) and Residency programmes (Batch 1). The enrollment specialties for this session encompass Internal Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, and Otorhinolaryngology for the Specialist Level I programme and Surgery, Paediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the Residency programme.

On the morning of 11th November, 2023, in preparation for the examination, a meeting of the Admissions Committee was convened by School of Medicine – VNU-HCM. The meeting encompassed the participation of various entities, including the Admissions Committee, Secretariat Board, Examination Board, Supervisor Board, and Facilities Department. Prof. PhD. MD. Tran Quyet Tien, the Deputy Dean and Vice Chairman of the Admissions Council, presided over the meeting.

During the session, Prof. PhD. MD. Tran Quyet Tien emphasised that School of Medicine – VNU-HCM has been entrusted by the Ministry of Health with the responsibility of providing postgraduate training, particularly in Residency. This recognition confers both honor and a significant obligation upon the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM. Prof. PhD. MD. Tran Quyet Tien, representing the Admissions Council, expressed gratitude and high regard for the collaborative efforts of the assisting committees. Their exemplary dedication and proactive approach in ensuring the physical and organisational aspects of the examination were commendable. The examination process was meticulously planned, adhering to systematic and scientific principles.

Assoc. Prof. PhD. DDS. Pham Anh Vu Thuy, Head of the Office of Undergraduate Training – Postgraduate Training, Standing Member of the Admissions Council, urged all instructors to adhere to the guidance provided by the Vice Chairman of the Admission Council. Additionally, they were instructed to ensure that candidates complete all necessary information on the examination forms and to emphasise the importance of being attentive to the gong signals, which serve as indicators for time management and allocation during the examination.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, the Admissions Council allocated personnel to disseminate examination regulations to candidates across 10 examination rooms. The current intake aims to accommodate a total of 171 candidates.

Notably, the postgraduate training programmes offered by School of Medicine – VNU-HCM have garnered substantial interest, evident through the large number of applicants. Despite enrolling students exclusively for the first year, this particular batch comprises 221 candidates who successfully passed the application screening process. This remarkable response underscores the position and reputation of the School of Medicine – VNU-HCM, highlighting its commitment to delivering high-quality training and fostering a conducive environment for in-depth study and research among aspiring candidates.
